Internet Speed Test
Check your real internet speed in seconds. This free speed test measures your download and upload throughput in both Mbps and MB/s, plus ping and jitter, straight from your browser. No app, no sign-up, and nothing to install.
Measure your real download and upload speed, ping, and jitter. The test runs in your browser against Cloudflare's global network. No app, no sign-up.
How to Run the Speed Test
- Close streaming, downloads, and cloud backups on other devices for the most accurate reading.
- Press Start Speed Test and stay on the page while it runs.
- Read your download and upload speed in Mbps (and MB/s below it), plus ping and jitter.
- Run it two or three times and take the best result to smooth out momentary congestion.
Mbps vs MB/s
Mbps (megabits per second)
How internet plans are sold. It measures raw connection speed. Bigger is faster.
MB/s (megabytes per second)
What you see when a file downloads. Since 1 byte is 8 bits, MB/s = Mbps divided by 8. So 100 Mbps is about 12.5 MB/s.
What Affects Your Speed
Wi-Fi vs wired
Wi-Fi loses speed with distance, walls, and interference. A wired Ethernet connection gives the truest reading of your line.
Other devices
Streaming, downloads, and backups running elsewhere on your network share the same bandwidth and lower your result.
Router and hardware
An older router, modem, or network adapter can cap your speed well below what your plan provides.
Congestion and distance
Peak-hour congestion and the distance to the server you connect to both add latency and reduce throughput.
