Spin the Wheel: Random Name Picker
Spin the wheel of names to pick a random winner, student, or answer. Type one entry per line, spin, and remove the winner if you are drawing more than one. Free, no sign-up, and the draw runs in your browser.
How to Use
- Type or paste entries into the box, one per line.
- Click the wheel or press Spin.
- Read the winner in the pop-up.
- Press Remove to take that entry off before the next spin, or Close to keep it.
Common Uses
Classrooms
Pick who answers next or set a presentation order. Project the page so the class sees the spin, then remove each student as they go.
Giveaways and raffles
Paste entrant names, spin on a screen share or live stream, and remove each winner so nobody wins twice.
Team meetings
Choose who runs the stand-up, takes notes, or reviews the next pull request without anyone having to volunteer.
Decisions
Put restaurant options, chores, or yes and no on the wheel and let it decide. Add an option twice to tilt the odds.
How the Draw Stays Fair
When you press Spin, the tool first draws the winning slice with crypto.getRandomValues, the same secure generator browsers use for encryption keys. Each of n slices has a 1 in n chance. It then picks a random resting spot inside that slice and animates about six full turns to reach it.
Because the result is decided before the wheel moves, nothing about the animation can bias it: not the spin length, not where the wheel stopped last time, and not how the slices are ordered. The Shuffle button uses the same generator with a Fisher-Yates shuffle, so reordering the list does not change anyone's odds either.
Need numbers, dice, or a shuffled list instead of a single winner? Use the random number generator and list randomizer.
