Why a Mouse Drops the Drag

Worn micro-switch

The contact spring inside the Omron/Huano switch loses tension and briefly breaks contact while held, ending the drag. The same fault also causes phantom double clicks.

Low wireless battery

A weak battery makes a wireless or Bluetooth mouse drop its radio link for a fraction of a second, which the OS reads as a released button mid-drag.

USB power management

Windows can suspend a USB port to save power, briefly cutting the mouse and interrupting the drag. Disabling selective suspend usually fixes it.

Cable or port fault

A frayed cable near the strain-relief, or a worn USB port, can lose connection when the cable flexes during a drag.

Yes. A wireless or Bluetooth mouse running low on battery frequently drops the connection for a fraction of a second, which reads exactly like a released button mid-drag. Before assuming the switch is dead, swap in a fresh battery or fully charge the mouse and re-run the test. If the breaks disappear, it was a power/connection issue, not the switch.
How do I fix a mouse that keeps dropping the drag?

A mouse used heavily for these techniques can start dropping drags and double-clicking within months rather than years.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The entire test runs in your browser. Pointer positions and timing are processed in memory only to draw the line and count breaks, and everything is discarded when you close or reload the tab. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
